Exercise 5.05 Rain

I knew of the potential of the West pier for good rain images – see Part 4, exercise 4.01.02 – and I was fairly confident that there would be people walking there, as the town has many tourists this time of year. I wanted the reflections on the pavement, colourful umbrellas (or at least one) and it had to look ‘wet’

Happy Rain

This image just does it for me – OK so it’s raining pretty hard, but look how glad they are to be out in it. The street lamps and capstans give a good perspective line. The water on the ground provides the reflections. The dark sky contrasts with the brightness in the foreground – it’s just ‘happy rain’. A rainbow would have been good, but you can’t have everything.

200 mm lens setting, hand held with the VR set to ‘Active’.
